River Stewards Volunteer Day: Invasive Plant Removal at the Spano River Ranch

Come spend the morning on the river and help us restore balance among natural plant life along the San Joaquin! The highly invasive scarlet wisteria is currently pushing out native vegetation and taking hold of our riverbanks. We need all the help we can get to keep these pests at bay. This event will run from 9:00am until noon and is a great opportunity for all individuals and groups. There is no long term commitment and all tools are provided.
We will meet at the gate to the property located at the corner of Riverview Drive and Bluff Avenue. To get there from Fresno:
•Exit highway 41 North at Friant Road
•Turn Right (northeast) onto Friant Road towards Woodward Park
•Turn Left (west) onto Audubon Drive and continue past the park and across the overpass
•Turn Right onto Del Mar Avenue and then make your first left onto Riverview Drive. The gate will be straight ahead.
Save time by printing and filling out a volunteer service agreement from our River Stewards webpage and bring it with you. Volunteers under the age of 18 must have a waiver signed by their parent or legal guardian.
Take care to protect yourself from the heat. Bring a refillable water bottle, put on sunscreen, and wear a hat.
