Take a break from the rush of everyday life and join the River Parkway Trust for a Respite by the River. Bring your picnic dinner, blanket and lawn. Respite by the River chair, and relax on the Ranch House front lawn while you enjoy live dinner music provided by talented local musicians. Macca's Wine Bar will be open during the dinner hour with wines for sale by the glass. Then you'll enjoy a reading by a Central Valley author. New this season, dessert will be available for sale following the reading.
Evening Schedule is as follows:
6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. - Live dinner music by Terry Berrett, bring your dinner, purchase your glass of wine
7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. - Reading by local author Lee Herrick
8:00 p.m. - Book sales and signing, dessert for sale
Lee Herrick is the Fresno Poet Laureate (2015-2017) and the author of two books, This Many Miles from Desire and Gardening Secrets of the Dead. His poems have appeared widely and in magazines and anthologies. He teaches at Fresno City College and the low-residency MFA Program at Sierra Nevada College.
Terry Barrett is a multi-talented musician playing fiddle, mandolin, and guitar. A protege of Kenny Hall, Terry has a wealth of musical styles and tunes under his belt. Italian, Scandinavian, Old Timey, and Celtic music are all part of his repertoir. Terry has been featured on albums by Kenny Hall and Fresno Spelman and others.
