Respite by the River: Reading by Liz Scheid with music by The Gilly Girls

Take a break from the rush of everyday life and join the River Parkway Trust for a Respite by the River. Bring your picnic dinner, blanket and lawn. Respite by the River chair, and relax on the Ranch House front lawn while you enjoy live dinner music provided by talented local musicians. Macca's Wine Bar will be open during the dinner hour with wines for sale by the glass. Then you'll enjoy a reading by a Central Valley author. New this season, dessert will be available for sale following the reading. Evening Schedule is as follows: 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. - Live dinner music by The Gilly Girls, bring your dinner, purchase your glass of wine 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. - Reading by local author Liz Scheid 8:00 p.m. - Book sales and signing, dessert for sale Liz Scheid is the author of The Shape of Blue. She received her MFA (poetry) from California State University, Fresno, where she worked as an Editorial Assistant for The Normal School. Her work has appeared in many literary magazines, including The Rumpus, Rattle, and Sou'Wester. She currently teaches at California State University, Fresno, and is a Visiting Writer at University of Texas at El Paso. The Gilly Girls Band consists of four sisters–two sets of twins, Savannah and Morgan, age 12 and Hailey and Jillian age 9. They enjoy playing bluegrass, southern gospel and oldtime string band music. Savannah sings and plays mandolin and fiddle. Morgan sings, yodels, and also plays mandolin and bass. Hailey sings, plays mandolin and guitar. Jillian sings and plays mandolin and banjo. They are quickly developing a unique style all their own. They live on a ranch in California’s Sierra Nevada foothills and enjoy the daily chores and pleasures that country life affords. This adds to their charm and the authenticity of their repertoire.
