Inaugural Fresno Beard and Moustache Competition
at Full Circle Brewing Co.
FRESNO, CA -- The Fresno Beard & Moustache Club will host hundreds of competitors from around the western United States in its Inaugural competition on October 17th at Full Circle Brewing. This all-ages event will feature local food trucks and vendors, and a photo booth. There will be 9 categories: 7 for men, 1 for ladies who can create crafty facial hair facsimiles, and one of best in show. Competitors are judged on showmanship, aesthetics, and crowd enthusiasm, and contend for 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place. Local DJs, Hammer and Skippy from New Rock 104.1 will be among the judges, along with bearding veterans. The club would like to invite anyone with facial hair to compete. Audiences enjoy the variety of styles, sizes, and colors. Tickets are $10 for spectators and $20 for competitors, and can be purchased through the facebook page, “Inaugural Fresno Beard & Moustache Competition.” Sponsors include Fresno Barber Shop, Crazy Squirrel Game Store, and Lighting Resources. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Marjaree Mason Center. Facial hair competitions have been going on in Europe, most notably Germany, for decades, but have only grown in popularity in the United States within the last ten years. Local clubs generally host these competitions, and clubs in Los Angeles and Sacramento have been hosting for a number of years. This will be the first competition in the Central Valley, hosted by the oldest active club in California.
