San Joaquin Memorial Celebrate Abilities Day
SJM students host guests with special needs to celebrate abilities day
Local Catholic High School, San Joaquin Memorial presents its 2nd annual Celebrate Abilities Carnival on Wednesday, November 6th, 2019 at San Joaquin Memorial. The event starts at 10:00 am and will conclude at 1:00 pm. San Joaquin Memorial prides itself on faith, learning and service. Celebrate Abilities Day is a Community Outreach Program in which we invite 150 guests with special needs from all over the San Joaquin Valley to be partnered with SJM students for a free, day long carnival. All of the Carnival games are modified to accommodate the diversity of guests. We have a committee consisting of teachers, staff and students who plan and organize the event. Each SJM teacher, club, and athletic team hosts game booths or activities. Our students and guests will enjoy SJM school spirit while participating in Face Painting, Interactive Games, Photo Booth, Cupcake Walk, Dancing, and many more exciting carnival games. “Our goal for this event is to give Memorial students the opportunity to learn and gain an understanding of Life, Love, and Compassion and to realize the abilities in all of God's children,” says Veronica Cortez-Mirelez, SJM Service Coordinator.
