Form & Function Exhibition and Opening Reception at Arts Visalia
In July 2019, Arts Visalia presents Form and Function: Metal Works. This exhibition will feature a variety of metal artworks created by local artists. Form and Function is an annual exhibition that displays the talents of 3-dimensional artists in mediums such as wood, metal, clay, plastic, glass, wax, and stone, amongst others. The Form and Function Exhibition will be displayed July 3rd through 26th, with an opening reception on First Friday, July 5th, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The exhibition is sponsored in part by Jack & Charlie’s, the Vintage Press Restaurante, the Southern Pacific Depot Restaurant, and Morgan Stanley. Arts Visalia’s Young Imaginations Gallery will take a timeout through the summer and will reconvene in August for the display of the Arts Visalia Young at Art classes, the Goshen Family Center art program, and the VUSD Migrant Education art program. In August 2019, Arts Visalia will display the annual Young at Art exhibition. Young at Art is an exhibition featuring the artworks of participants in Arts Visalia’s summer children’s Young at Art classes. Each artist will have at least one piece in the exhibit for each class. This summer’s focus was on what makes everybody connected and what things the students’ value. Students were challenged by a series of questions: “How do people label you? What is it that you love about yourself? How are you emotionally connected to art? What makes everybody a hero?” The focus was on positive affirmations art brings to each student. Not only did each class focus on the emotional connection to art, but also on the seven elements of art and principles of design and their connection to the histories of art and artists’ disciplines. Don’t miss out on our most popular exhibit. Arts Visalia’s Young at Art summer classes continue through July 26 for a total of 6 weeks of art. Each week is focused on a different art medium such as paper mache, clay, painting, printmaking, collage, and drawing. Enrollment forms are available at Arts Visalia and online. All class participants in the children’s summer program will be displayed in the Young at Art exhibition. Mark your calendars for an unforgettable First Friday, August 2nd from 6-8 p.m.
