Tis the season of holiday-themed pays and musicals! Fresno has an amazing selection of talent and venues when it comes to performances.

One of the more classic holiday films is A Christmas Story, and Good Company Players has taken on the task of putting on a live musical versionLocal production company, Good Company Players, will be performing this classic with a few surprises along the way. We were so excited about this that we reached out and contacted the company to get a little more information about it.

Emily Pessano, one of Good Company Players' employees and co-director and choreographer of A Christmas Story, The Musical, took the time to answer a few of our eager questions about the upcoming performance.

Tell us a little bit about the production company Good Company Players. What is it that they do.

Good Company Players (GCP) is the theatre company which produces plays and musicals at both Roger Rocka's Dinner Theater and GCP's 2nd Space Theatre. The company was founded in 1973 and has produced stellar shows for the past 43 years.

We run year-round and, between the two venues, produce 12 shows every year. Additionally, under the GCP umbrella is our own costume shop, scene shop, business office, prop department, rehearsal spaces, and GCP's Junior Company program. We also offer several classes and workshops through the company and, within our company members and alumni, have many excellent resources for private lessons and courses.

Tell us a little bit about the unique upcoming production A Christmas Story. What can someone expect?

A Christmas Story: The Musical is a musical adaptation of the popular Warner Bros. film of the same name (both are based off of Jean Shepherd's In God We Trust: All Others Pay Cash). Anyone attending the show can expect a great night out whether they have seen the movie before or not. Anyone who has seen the movie can expect all of their favorite iconic and hilarious film moments as well some fun surprises that only the spectacular world of musical theatre can provide!

What you most excited about?

As a GCP Staff Member, I can say that we are always excited to open a new show! As the co-director and choreographer of the show, I am excited to be a part of something that brings people together, especially at the holidays, and to witness the reactions of people who are seeing something magical come to life on stage - whether they are familiar with the film or are seeing the story for the first time. But most importantly, as a lover of theatre, I am excited to help expose kids and grown-ups alike to the art of a live theatrical performance which is an experience unlike any other that unites us all through laughter, thought, emotions, and feelings - all the wonderful things that make us human.

How can someone get tickets?

Tickets for all Good Company Players' productions are available online at www.gcplayers.com or by calling our Box Office at 559.266.9494.

There is a wide selection of ticket options ranging from Show Only to our most popular Full Service Dinner & Show which includes a sumptuous meal prepared by Roger Rocka's Dinner Theater's Executive Chef Eric DeGroot. We also sell gift certificates that are incredibly popular for the holidays as they allow the recipients to choose which production they would most like to see. Gift Certificates are also available for purchase online, in the Box Office, and at local retailers such as Sierra Nut House and Sierra Vista Mall

What else should we know about the experience?
There is no other experience in town that's like the combination of a sparkling Good Company Players production and a fantastic meal from Roger Rocka's Dinner Theatre, it's the perfect night out for yourself and makes a phenomenal gift for others.
