Rocket Dog Gourmet Brats & Brew in Fresno, CA is a new restaurant in town. Their menu is comprised of quality, fresh local ingredients delivered in a convenient way. Whether you are in the mood for fresh crisp salads or sausages stacked with all the fixin’s, Rocket Dog has got you covered.

They made sure to build their menu around providing foods that are natural, delicious, and locally sourced. They offer fresh, handmade, nitrate, preservative, and mystery-meat-free sausages crafted by our friends at The Meat Market in Clovis, CA

Not only are they all about locally-sourced, fresh products, Rocket Dog also looks for local communities and nonprofits to support. They state that, "We have a responsibility to OUR COMMUNITY ... A portion of our profits are given to non-profits right here in Fresno. We’d love to help your non-profit raise funds and awareness!"

One of the Rocket Dog members, Bethany Hsia, took some time to give me the inside scoop.

Who are we/why Fresno?

We have a passion for this unique city with big heart because we can relate!  Rocket Dog is a small business owned by myself, my husband, and another husband and wife team.  We all met here nearly six years ago and became good friends before realizing that we had similar dreams for impacting Fresno in a positive way.  We want to bring a delicious unique product to the families of Fresno while providing jobs and supporting the economy by sourcing our products locally as much as possible.

What should people know about us?

We are not a franchise!  But take it as a compliment that people find us so polished.  The truth is we (and our friends) put a lot of sweat equity into Rocket Dog.  A few of my favorite personal touches are the wood we reclaimed and painted for the walls and the wooden tables & counter which the husbands built, painted and stained with the help and direction of carpenter friends. (I mean seriously!  Dudes straight built the tables…got some wood and BOOM! Tables.)

We cater! For more information call the store (559) 283-8096

We make a lot of our sauces, all our soups and chili in house.  We also house-make the kettle style russet potato chips.

We carry over 50 craft beers (12 taps; and many more bottles).  We also carry wine.

We don’t bite! People sometimes approach me after they’ve been to Rocket Dog and suggest we carry this or offer that and the funny part is we do offer those things!  We carry Gluten Free buns but also serve our dogs or sandwiches on a bed of lettuce (or even fries!).  We have an awesome soy dog that can be subbed in for any sausage or if you’re on the opposite side of the spectrum we’ll gladly wrap bacon around your sausage of choice.  We also have a kid’s menu.

What’s next?

We will be at Valley Animal Center’s Super Adoption event!; Saturday, May 14th. But we won’t be catering to humans that day. We are very excited to be talking with a local pet treat company about using their treats in a “hot dog” for dogs. We plan to unveil it then!

Stop by and try some of their delicious dogs!
