Former Fresno mayor and veteran actor Alan Autry is preparing a new film through his company, Autry Entertainment Group. Casting started on May 2. Autry and Fred Williamson, Lee Majors, Rachel Hendrix and Britt Prieto are among the local actors who will be playing major characters in the film.

The film, written by Autry, is about a man who sets out to become an MMA Fighter and has some struggles along the way. Issues with his relationships, including a wife who is trying to convert him to Christianity and an estranged father who is trying to come back into his life, almost derail his plans to be the fighter he wants to be.

“It’s a story about a man who knows exactly what he wants to do, but different issues keep popping up in his life,” said Ryan Gilmore, the associate producer.

“We have about half the cast in place,” Gilmore said. “We started filming at the beginning of June, and we expect the finished product to be released in about a year and a half.”

UPDATE: Eric Roberts has also been cast in the film (information courtesy of Ryan Gilmore).
